Seen any good movies lately?

As a matter of fact I have...

"Please Give" was excellent and well-acted.

"Life as a House" was very touching.

"Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" was quite entertaining and fast-paced.

"Up" was a bit sad (Pixar makes tear-jerkers), but a sweet story and enjoyable for even a three year old.

"Julie & Julia" was very well made and I loved each of the principle actors' performances.

"Zombieland" was fun and gory.

"Hurricane Season" was very stirring and Forest Whitaker was terrific.

"Zack and Miri Make a Porno" was hilarious and clever just like a Kevin Smith film is supposed to be.

Just some stuff I've enjoyed, no particular order. Let me know if you saw something I should see, too. Or tell me you disagree if that's the case.

Love Cloudy.....My sister claims it is her favorite children's movie. I argue that Despicable Me is even better. We had that argument all during Christmas break. When we watched both of them. A lot. Great movies!! Life as a House is a great movie. Up is, too! Loved Julie and Julia. And I haven't seen the rest! I will check into them! I just watched Due Date, Salt, and the Social Network. Seen those?

I do like DM quite a bit, too--I'm going to try and take Jack to the rabbit movie this Friday if all works out.

I haven't seen any of those yet. Due Date looks funny but a bit redundant, yet I'd still like to see it ;), all I heard about Salt was how terrible it was, and I'm totally going to order the Social Network on PPV! I have The Fighter DVRd and I'm totally looking forward to watching it this weekend! Have you seen it yet?

Due Date wasn't as good as I thought it would be but still a wee bit funny! Did you go see Hop? I wanted to take Blake but not sure if he will like it! I actually kinda liked Salt but I'm weird like that! Social Network was really good! And I can't WAIT to watch The Fighter! It's on my list! Let me know what you think!

"Life as a House" is one of those movies you think is really cool maybe the first time you see it. Then you realize it's trite and most definitely trying too hard. I think you just fell for the father-son thing, but there have to be better father-son movies out there! I'll be on the lookout.

Also, "Up" and "Zombieland" were the tits. The first being a great Pixar success in that it conveys emotions in a unique way to people of all ages; the second because it was well-written and made perfect use of Woody Harrelson.

Up--haven't gotten to go yet, but still planning on it sooner than later.
The Fighter--totally great! Each actor was completely believable and the story moved well. Definitely recommend.
I'll still see Social and Due Date.

Jenny is right on her diagnosis of "Life as..." both in that it tries too hard (as John Irving does in all his works) and I'm just sappy on the whole father-son (not to mention my own absentee father angle) story. They got me. I welcome other suggestions.
Bill Murray is just rad in everything and Woody's strengths seemed to be written to, for sure.
Pixar never fails to win.

"Big Fish" is really good for father/son stuff. But you have to be willing to go into a Tim Burton world.
